The girls explore nature all the time inside and outside. Inside we water plants and watch plants bloom…and even explore at the tactile table with dirt, sand, and seeds. Outside we look up, we look down, we search soil, look for colors and visit the farm. We want our girls to have a shared love of nature through discovery and play. The tactile table is always a place in the room to explore nature. At the beginning of the year the girls had fun playing with sand…discovering the texture and color …later soil and seeds were added, and the girls enjoyed sifting and sorting many different types of seeds.
The girls kept watching the seeds every time we walked to the playground. Some of the seeds dried up…some sprouted… and some grew a few leaves. We brought the seeds in and made more observations.
Observational drawings of our seeds to seedlings to roots, stems, and leaves. We just love the great outdoors!!
