Last week the girls continued to explore, create, and enjoy the colorful world of Lois Ehlert. This study has given the girls a deeper connection to her and the magical books she creates. The girls became absorbed in this study and were inspired to create collage style art and become authors and illustrators as well.
The girls used pattern blocks to create animals
Next they created their own animals using a variety of materials
Then the girls created their own book. Many of the girls used rhyming words !!
We left the collage materials out for the girls to continue experimenting with various materials.
The girls painted rainbows and created rainbow sculptures from clay, pipe cleaners, beads, and wire after listening to Planting a Rainbow and Eating the Alphabet.
Reflection: Lois Ehlert is an amazing magical author and illustrator loved by children and adults as well. The girls began to understand story events, themes and conversations on a different level. They began to relate the stories she told to their own experiences which make amazing connections to the world of Lois Ehlert.
