Feelings are powerful emotions…We have had many conversations about different feelings and continue to share many books that encourage our girls to embrace all kinds of feelings they may have. We began our exploration on identifying emotions by using a mirror to draw dramatic self-portraits. When our girls enter our room….how they feel is “written all over their face”. Observing these expressions and acting on how to react to the way a person feels is an important milestone for our girls. They begin to recognize how people feel and are learning how to react and at times give comfort to friends and family… good practice for all of us. We pulled out our mirrors...The girls identified emotions and created pictures of how they feel.
Friendships and Feelings seem to go hand and hand. We provide and help our girls develop good friendship skills by encouraging them to express feelings by using their words…sharing and taking turns…learning the rules of conversation…being understanding to another friends idea…and the list goes on and on. These skills are building blocks for understanding the importance of positive relationships.
