Listen in on their conversation...
Whoa! We have pumpkins! This one is big!
This one is not heavy.
I’m really strong!
What is this on here? (Dirt, discussed vines and growing outside like we saw on the farm)
Try this one!
It’s too heavy!
They’re like pumpkins on a vine!
Choo choo! A pumpkin train!
Hey let’s switch!
I’ll have this one.
Let’s carve these huge pumpkins!
I match the pumpkin! Because I have orange on.
I can’t pick it up. Let’s use teamwork!
We talked about what it means to DESCRIBE things. I asked them to DESCRIBE the weather...rainy! I asked them to DESCRIBE the sweater I was wearing...black. They got it! The girls put on their "detective eyes" to look at the pumpkins. They did a great job of DESCRIBING what they saw!
We also talked about making PREDICTIONS! I PREDICTED that we would have hotdogs and tater tots for lunch and then we had to wait until lunch to see if I was right...I was not! They loved telling me my prediction was wrong! Ha! Each girl PREDICTED how many seeds she thought were in the big pumpkin and then we opened it up and cleaned it out! Stay tuned! We'll count the seeds tomorrow!
How does it feel inside?
Lots of orange!
This seed is not slimy. It's dry.
Ooooh! It feels yukky!
This looks like hair!
It feels like slobber.
It looks like potatoes!
It feels good!
It's a little cold.
It's smushy and gooey!
The seeds are hard!
Ooh! I got another seed!
I got 2 seeds!
