I'm a little wiggle worm, watch me go!
I can wiggle fast! I can wiggle slow!
I wiggle all around then back I go...
Down into the ground to the home I know!
We got to observe some slimy, fat earthworms! Ewwwww! We didn't touch them, although some girls wanted to - they said they'd be real gentle.
Words about worms...
Look at this giant worm!
I see a worm under the dirt.
What is he doing?
Look at that hole! How did they make that?
Swibble! Swibble! Swabble! through the dirt.
I've touched one before.
I can't believe how many worms!
Worms can breathe anywhere.
Worms also have vitamins.
That giant one is yucky!
After observing the worms, we did some digging in the dirt. We looked for worms, but didn't find any. We DID get dirt from different places around our building and did some investigating and comparing. We got dirt from the flower bed where we planted our zinnias. We filled another bucket with dirt by the parking lot under the pine tree. And we scooped up some muddy, mossy dirt from right outside our back door. It was fun! Girls like mud, too!
Observations from the flower bed dirt...
I see white seeds.
I found a pine needle.
This one is darker than the other buckets.
I don't see vitamins in that dark dirt.
I see roots!
A little green plant!
Observations from the dirt by the parking lot...
There's been a lot of rain.
Pine needles and yukky stuff!
it's a lot wetter!
It's a little weird looking at dirt!
Observations from the dirt by our back door...
There's pine needles!
I see stringy things! They're roots!
I see a thread hanging down.
It looks like grass!
It's soft and furry!
A lot of different things I saw before in the dirt.
