One of my VERY favorite things we do in pre-k is to paint a self-portrait! We talk about the things that make us alike and things that make us different. We talk about eyelashes and eyebrows and noses and ears. We look in the mirror to see what color our eyes are. And then we PAINT!
We talk about what we love about each other and what we love about ourselves. We get to celebrate the special things about each girl and we discuss what it means to be a Hutchison girl and what it means to be Hutchison strong!
:Listen in on our conversation about being a Hutchison girl...
Is there only one Hutchison girl?
No there are hundreds of Hutchison girls.
Lots of pre-k girls!
And hundreds and hundreds of big Hutchison girls!
What are some of the words we talk about in Chapel that describe a Hutchison girl?
What does humble mean?
It means being kind.
Is being bossy humble? Is bragging about something you can do better being humble?
Teasing isn't being humble either, Mrs. Erickson.
Another word is curious for the Hutchison girl.
What does curious mean?
You want to find out the answers.
Does she do sloppy work?
Nooo. She tries her hardest all the time.
Does she make mistakes? Sure. But she does her best.
Think about what it means to be Hutchison Strong...what do you think that means?
That seems pretty obvious.
It does? Why?
Um....what does obvious mean?
It means you can see it right away.
I know...Hutchison girls are trustworthy...they tell the truth!
Hutchison girls don't give up when they try something new!
Like Niah was trying to do her puzzle and she kept trying.
Helping a friend when she needs help!
That’s being understanding.
Being nice to your friends.
WOW! These girls are sure smart! I'd say they really are HUTCHISON STRONG!!!
Check out these fabulous self-portraits and be proud of, right alongside these girls, what they love about themselves!
I asked them to tell me three words to describe themselves. Really cool!
WE ARE HUTCHISON STRONG!!! GIRL POWER!!!
