Fall is a little tricky in Memphis! You think it's coming when there's a cool morning and then it's hot in the afternoon. That happens for several weeks and then poof! the weather stays a little cooler, the leaves begin to change, float to the ground, and THEN, what do you know? It's almost Thanksgiving and fall is almost over! The girls and I have talked a lot about what happens in the fall. We've been watching a tree outside our room slowly turn a beautiful shade of yellow! We went on a leaf walk to gather beautiful leaves and we've been enjoying the cooler weather. AND we've been talking A LOT about all we have to be thankful for! Just so you know...YOU are on the top of the list!
We had SO much fun on our scavenger hunt! The girls were great little detectives, finding the things on our list REALLY quickly! All except for the birds...they were hiding from us that day!
I know how to make an X on my list!
I see a yellow leaf!
I know where we can find lots of acorns!
We have to find a bird, Mrs. Erickson! That's the last thing we need to find!
We painted with pinecones we found outside our classroom.
"Everyone get your bags! We're going out to gather some beautiful leaves!
Do you know what kind of leaves these are? We'll have to do some research and figure out what kind of tree this came from."
The girls loved looking in our leaf books to match the leaves. We found sassafras leaves, oak leaves, maple leaves, and our personal favorite, the gingko leaves! What fun! We sorted, counted, compared, made patterns, and even created animals and people out of the leaves we found,
