Our little zinnia plants are growing and ready to be planted! We are so excited to get them in the ground! AND we planted them on the playground to add some beautiful color to our time outside! Boy! I hope they blossom and show us some beautiful rainbow colors!
Breaking up the soil in the flower bed on the playground...
We have to dig the ground up for our plants.
It looks crunchy.
I see rocks and ants.
This handle looks like a pickle.
Why are the pine needles in the dirt.
I crunched down a glob of dirt.
Ants and worms live in this dirt!
It’s kind of like a mud pie.
I’m trying to mess up the hole.
It’s like a fork.
I’m breaking the dirt.
I see an ant. It’s a fire ant.
I see leaves and those things from the trees. I call it a sardines.
I see wood chips and leaves.
We need to plant our flowers so we have to dig holes.
Measuring our sprouts, adding potting soil and planting our little zinnias...
The tallest sprout was 6 inches tall! WOW!
The shortest plant with leaves was 2 inches!
And the tiniest sprout was peeking out of the dirt with 2 tiny little leaves, measuring only 1/2 centimeter. The girls thought it was "so cute!"
We sure have had fun watching our seeds grow. The girls LOVED watering them in Mrs. Riddle's room and counting the leaves. It will REALLY be fun to watch them now that they're in the ground. We can't wait to see the rainbow blossom! Boy! I hope it really does!
