Friday, September 15th, the girls celebrated International Dot Day! It was a delightful day of everything dots! We loved reading Peter H. Reynolds award-winning book, The Dot! The moral of the story? Don't think you can draw? Just draw a dot and see where it takes you! The little girl in the story learns that there is a creative spirit in all of us!
Dots! Dots! And more dots!
Mrs. Prewitt's daughter, Molly Prewitt, is a math teacher in the Upper School here at Hutchison. She challenged her Algebra I class to investigate and prepare activities for our girls around math and the dot. The freshman girls researched appropriate curriculum for the Pre-K girls, focusing on numbers, operations, data, measurement, geometry, and patterns. It was a wonderful time for the little girls to interact with the big girls. You know, they LOVED that! What a treat for us to participate in a cross-divisional activity like that! We are all HUTCHISON STRONG...big and little!
