As we read the book Not a Box by Antoinette Portis, the girls giggled and laughed as they watched the little bunny in the story make lots of different things out of a box. We had a lively discussion of what our own box could be. We even tried the democratic approach and voted on our favorite idea. It was hard to choose just one! It was a lovely collaborative effort. Each girl walked down to the Material Center, a room where we store recycled materials, to choose very specific items to create our box that was "not a box."
The girls painted and painted and painted and glittered and glittered and glittered. They had so much fun choosing things for the princess head and face! We added wheels to our carriage and beautiful blonde hair to our fair lady. And of course, she needed a crown!
Who is the fairest in the land of Hutchison School? Well, our beautiful not-a-box Princess in her pink carriage, of course!
