Winter can be a little tricky in Memphis. Sometimes it is really cold and some days it is nice and warm. No matter what the temperature in our part of Tennessee, it is still really fun to talk about winter weather and hope for a little snow. The girls have enjoyed reading lots of books about snow and winter. One of their favorites was Angelina's Ice Skates by Katharine Holabird. After watching some short clips of real ice skating from some of my favorite Olympian skaters, they were ready to lace up skates of their own and hit the ice. We joined forces with Mrs. Prewitt's girls to create a beautiful winter mural.
Collaboration - putting ideas together about how our mural would look and working together to make it happen
Critical Thinking - brainstorming about winter - discussing winter weather - comparing winter to spring, summer, and fall
Creativity - thinking of ways to "build" a pond for our skaters and adding snow to the winter trees
