She's a grand old flag, she's a high-flying flag!
And forever in peace may she wave.
She's the emblem of the land I love, the home of the free and the brave!
Every heart beats true 'neath the red, white, and blue!
Keep your eye on the grand old flag!
. In light of the election this week, we took this opportunity to add a little history and government into our activities. We talked about the flag and what the president does and where he lives. Please ask your girls what they learned about these things. They voted, by secret ballot, on their favorite pet. What's your favorite? How many stars are on our flag? How many stripes? Where does the President live?
The girls practiced making a pattern while painting a flag and for making paper chains for a BIG flag we created for the wall! They are great at seeing patterns in our environment at school and making their own patterns, too!
Some of the girls shared what they would do if they were President!
Reflection: One of the wonderful things about teaching little people is the way they accept, love, and care for each other...and for me! They see differences. They see similarities. They encourage each other and build each other up! They work together! They want to help! They LOVE being a team and being part of a family! May I exhibit those things as I nurture their little minds and hearts!
