5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate,..
The first one said, "Oh, my! It's getting late"!
The second one said, "There are witches in the air!"
The third one said, "We don't care!"
The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run!"
The fifth one said, "We're ready for some fun!"
Then OOOOH went the wind and OUT when the lights.
And 5 little pumpkins rolled out of sight!
Happy Halloween from these cute little trick-or-treaters!
Just one of the wonderful things about our beautiful campus is the Hutchison Farm! The girls LOVE it...almost as much as they love pulling on those cute rain boots for the walk across the field. Mrs. Riddle, our very own horticulturist, has done an amazing job of planning and planting. It's absolutely beautiful! Hutchison girls are planting vegetables and herbs that Chef Willie is using in lunch preparation for the school. We are really eating what we grow! The pre-k girls were more than delighted to help Mrs. Riddle plant carrot seeds. We talked about and even EXPERIENCED what plants need to grow...seeds, dirt, water, and sunshine! We saw lots of things already growing...turnips, kale, spinach, sweet potatoes, basil, mint, and lots of pretty zinnias! What a great resource for your girls - hands on exposure and involvement with a beautiful garden...right outside our door!
Our study of morning and nighttime routines has led us right into starry skies and the intrigue of the moon. Why does the moon look different each night? Can anyone live on the moon? Why can you see the moon sometimes when it is light outside? Why can't you see the stars in the daytime? We have enjoyed fiction and nonfiction books about the moon and learned a lot of cool facts! AND we have been busy around the room enjoying LOTS of moon activities.
Cutting and matching moons - full moons, half moons, and crescent moons.
Using stamps and chalk to create a nighttime scene.
Creating constellations at the light table.
number recognition - creating patterns
Warming up in the tent by the campfire....under the starry sky, of course!
We talked about fiction and nonfiction books and read a nonfiction book about the earth and moon. Your girls KNEW a lot about the moon, They WONDERED some good stuff about the moon, too. Here's what we LEARNED about the moon...
