I learned how to draw a fish. Make a big circle first then the tail. Add fins and eyes and kissy lips.
I learned that bugs have an abdomen, a thorax, and antennae, and they have 6 legs.
I can write my name now.
I didn't know how to draw a person and now I do!
I learned how to be nice to a friend - you should share and be nice even if they aren't nice.
I loved the farm. I know plants need water, sun, and soil so they'll grow.
I learned how to cross the whole monkey bars. I had to grab the other pole and keep going. It was really hard and sweaty!
I learned how to pull the carrots out when we were picking them at the farm. You have to wiggle, wiggle the leaves, and pull!
I learned how to draw a caterpillar.
I learned to throw the ball in the gym with Mrs. Parsons!
When I put the apple in the water, it went down and then up.
I love the song, "What are you wearing? " That's my favorite!
My favorite job is being the line leader!
What a wonderful year it has been! The girls have learned so much and grown up so much! We are thankful for the time we have had with them...and getting to know YOU! Best wishes for a safe and happy summer! xoxo
After creating the canvas with the beautiful ocean we had to add a little ocean life, of course! What kinds of animals live in the coral reef? What kinds of things should we add to our ocean? Another multi-step process was begun as the girls created creatures to go in our sea! We had read many of Eric Carle's books that connected us to the ocean and its creatures. We wanted to expose the girls to his technique for illustrating. They LOVED the process and created some beautiful sea life to add to our ocean!
Step 1 - painting tissue paper a solid color
Step 2 - adding another layer of color with texture
Step 3 - one more layer of prints
Step 4 - using our tissue paper to create sea creatures - the girls cut shapes from the paper they made to "build" something that lives in the sea
WOW! What a fun and creative project! I loved seeing the girl's creations! Take a look at our beautiful coral reef!
As the girls' fascination for the coral reef aquarium grew, we thought it would be fun to make an aquarium of our own. The pre-k classes joined together to work on an elaborate collaborative project that now hangs in the activity center! It is beautiful! It was a very involved process, involving many steps and lots of industrious little girls! They learned to work together AND to be patient and persistent in the process! We are so proud of them! AND proud of their AMAZING masterpiece!
CREATING THE CANVAS:
Step 1 - The girls painted the canvas with the colors of the sea...blues and greens and white.
Step 2 - The girls repainted the canvas with those same colors...
Step 3 - The girls added ANOTHER layer of color painting shapes and lines...
Steps 4 and 5 - The girls added texture with lots of glue, rocks, gems, shells, and glitter...
The canvases are ALMOST complete! How "bout some fish?!? We added another intricate and multi-step process to add a little sea life to that beautiful water!
Stay tuned to see the beautiful sea life your girls created and to see another complicated process! Look at the beautiful work of your budding artists!
