Mrs. Burt & Mrs. Clanton
It has been a great start to our year in PK. Your girls have been delightful and engaged in all the activities that we have for them. We made our first visit to the farm last week which was so much fun. We planted yellow, orange and purple carrots. We will go back in 10 days to check on them to see if the top of the carrot is showing on top of the ground. We plan on following the growth of the carrots and finally eating them at harvest time. There were many pictures of our visit on Instagram.
Our first weeks of school always focus on beginning skills. We are working on cutting, coloring, painting and name recognition. All our centers have been to help our girls develop in these areas. We also are working on listening skills, making friendships and participation in all our activities. The following centers are examples of how we practice our skills.
Letter recognition and counting the letters in our name
Working on small motor control with our painting
Working on small motor control with cutting play dough
Straight line pictures
Recognition of straight lines and what we can make out of them
Learning about our farm and planting our carrot seeds
We hope you and your family have a great weekend and we will look forward to seeing your girls on Tuesday!
