,,The girls have had a wonderful week, learning about themselves, how we are different, and, in many ways, are very much alike. We have compared ourselves in many ways. Our height, hair and eye color, our different shades of skin color and have worked with the girls graphing some of these differences. Graphing is an important math skill for the girls to compare and analyze information that has been "gathered' to answer questions. They have loved drawing themselves, using a mirror to carefully look at the many details of their faces. We are different but unique in every way!
Several centers reinforcing Pre-k skills this week were:
-Play-doh,reinforcing fine motor strength
-Valentine Story Workshop, manipulating objects to tell a story supporting creativity and imagination.
-Math/sequencing hearts from small to large
-Recognition,writing, and forming the letter "V"
-Creating a heart three part pattern
-"The Valentine Center", writing names of classmates and decorating valentine cards, creativity
-Creating our own "Silly Faces" with awareness of how we are alike but also different
Lastly, our Valentine party was lots of fun with a Valentine bingo game and a delicious cookie and drink! Perhaps the most fun, was the exchanging of Valentine cards from all of our sweet friends. For sure, a way to show how much we love each other!
Happy Valentine's day from each of us!!
