The girls have so excited about their grandparents visiting Hutchison today and the morning proved to be a very special time for everyone! Grandparents are very special people in our lives, and we hope, in some small way, they felt honored to be with their sweet granddaughters today. We certainly appreciate their attendance. Please view the pictures and we think you will agree that it was a wonderful morning for all.
After Thanksgiving, we will continue to work with Pre-K skills including letter and number recognition, two part patterns, sorting in various ways, and continuing to mature fine motor skills, particularly in their journal writing.
We wish each family a wonderful Thanksgiving, enjoy time with family and friends, and rest before the busy season of Christmas. It has been a great year so far and we are very thankful for each family and the little girls in our class! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!
As we have been walking the campus since the girls arrived in August, they have been interested in all the trees we walk by; going to lunch, the trees on our playground, and the trees on the Lower school playground as we visited that area of our campus one day. We asked if they would like to draw and paint our tree on the playground as a reference point to teach about seasonal changes. Thus, the "Tree for all Seasons" was born! Summer has changed to fall and the girls noticed how the trees were all beginning to change colors and we began a discussion about why that was happening and how we could illustrate that change we were seeing. Once again, the girls wanted to do an observational drawing of a fall tree. We also took a nature walk around the campus to collect different leaves for them to observe while drawing and painting, and other "treasures" such as pine cones, sticks, acorns, gumballs, and pine needles. After we returned to the classroom, the girls then got to sit on the carpet, empty their treasures on to the rug and sort all the different things they had found. They also started making two part patterns out of their collections and loved every minute of this fun outing. We will continue to observe our playground tree and all the beautiful trees on our campus through out the year as we add our seasonal changes to our "Tree for all Seasons" Cycles are everywhere as the girls are learning with the observation of seasonal change. As we discuss Thanksgiving, we have made a fall"Thankful Tree" and named some things each girl was thankful for to her tree. We know that this will be an extra special "addition" to your Thanksgiving decorations!

The highlight of our week was eating breakfast with our dads while reading some of our wonderful classroom books. There is nothing sweeter than seeing these sweet girls curled up with their dads reading and enjoying this sweet time together. These years pass so quickly, and this time spent with your daughters is so important in their development and self esteem. They love your involvement in their world at school, and we especially love for our dads to have this special time. Thanks to each dad for taking the time to make this a very special morning for our sweet girls. Enjoy the pictures, we think you will agree that it was a pretty happy time for all!
