The girls loved seeing the ladybugs on the playground, and would often bring them to us to view. A natural part of spring is the new growth everywhere and, of course, insects of many kinds. We decided to further explore insects, especially the ladybug! Among the books we read were Eric Carle's beloved "The Grouchy Ladybug" and "The Ladybug Girl" by David Soman. We learned the following facts about ladybugs:
-they are insects
-an insect's body has three parts, head, thorax, and abdomen
-two antennae which helps them feel, smell, and know the world around them
-they have six legs
-they protect plants by eating aphids (tiny bugs that destroy the plant)
As we read the book "Ladybug Girl", the girls decided they would love to "become" lady bug girls and the creativity began. They loved making their ladybug vest and antennae crowns and were so excited to go to carpool as "Ladybug Girls"!

One few away and then there were four.
